Necklace & Chain Length Guide
The right necklace length depends on your neckline, body type, and personal style. Use our guide to choose the most flattering fit.
| Length (inches) | Length (cm) | Style Name | How It Falls | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 14" | 35 cm | Collar | Sits snug on neck | High necklines, choker look |
| 16" Popular | 40 cm | Choker | Just below collarbone | Round & V-necklines |
| 18" Popular | 45 cm | Princess | At or below collarbone | Most necklines, everyday wear |
| 20" | 50 cm | Matinee | Above bust line | Business wear, high necklines |
| 24" | 60 cm | Opera | At bust or below | Evening wear, sarees |
| 30–36" | 75–90 cm | Rope / Lariat | Below bust | Bridal, layering |
Measure Yourself
Use a soft measuring tape and hold it loosely around your neck where you want the necklace to fall. Note the measurement in inches or cm.
Pendant Chains
For pendant necklaces, the pendant itself adds visual length. A shorter chain (16") with a long pendant can equal the effect of an 18–20" plain chain.
Mangalsutra Length
Traditional mangalsutras typically range from 18–24 inches. Longer lengths (24"+) are preferred for saree wear; shorter for daily use with salwar kameez.
